The GARAIA Technology Park
It is a public-private initiative promoted by the MONDRAGON Corporation, supported by scientific knowledge from Mondragon Unibertsitatea, 6 technology centres, and backed by top public bodies.
Located in a region with a fertile industrial fabric and a history of innovations, the GARAIA Technology Park promotes crossed relationships between companies, technology centres, and universities using a collaborative model. It is the ideal scenario for setting up new companies and entrepreneurs that want to get their business ideas started.
GARAIA can help you during every phase of the business project. Irrespective of whether the project is initiating, growing, or already established, GARAIA has a range of agents involved in the innovation process, including a university, incubator, cluster, technology centres, a living-lab, an industrial property agency - making it a unique ecosystem that favours entrepreneurship and launching new businesses.
Being involved with GARAIA means forming part of one of the main international technology and knowledge transfer networks, because GARAIA is located in one of the main regions of industrial concentration in Europe. Additionally, we offer a pleasant, dynamic working environment within modern installations. You will be able to share experiences, present ideas, take part in different activities, and attend the regular workshops, courses, and events of interest taking place.

ECOSISTEMA GARAIA
AN INDUSTRIAL BENCHMARK
GARAIA is located in a region known as one of Europe’s major industrial concentrations. Almost 50% of Debagoiena’s GDP derives from industrial activities. The same figure for the Basque Country is 24.3%, and is 15% for Spain.
COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS
This ecosystem is based on the capacity for forging links between companies, technology centres, the university, and other players involved in the innovation process. It forms part of a number of international networks.
A UNIVERSITY ENVIRONMENT
Mondragon University (MU), known for its focus on industry, provides over 5,500 university students for the GARAIA ecosystem from their 5 campuses located in the region. They have the skills and knowledge required for their environment.
HIGH TECHNOLOGICAL CAPABILITY
The existence of a high added value industrial ecosystem requires technology centres to meet its needs. The 6 technology centres Ikerlan, Edertek, Isea, IK4-Ideko, CS Stirling and Koniker, are at the cutting edge of European technology and show the ecosystem’s great potential.
AREAS OF SPECIALISATION
The high concentration of companies from the machining-tools and automotive sectors has led the GARAIA ecosystem to develop specific knowledge in the areas of mechatronics, advanced manufacturing, big data, and new materials, becoming a benchmark industrial ecosystem.
A STANDARD FOR COOPERATION
investment in a cooperative model (MONDRAGON) has made this region an international standard when it comes to corporate social responsibility. This had led to the creation of a community of 266 units and 15 R+D centres employing over 80,500 people.
